About the Author

Robert Pollack is a professor of biological sciences at Columbia University, where he has received the Alexander Hamilton Medal, and is director of the Center for the Study of Science and Religion. His books include The Missing Moment: How the Unconscious Shapes Modern Science and Signs of Life: The Language and Meaning of DNA, which received the Lionel Trilling Award and has been translated into six languages.
