About the Author

Bruce Hoffman is a professor in the Security Studies Program at Georgetown University's Edmund A Walsh School of Foreign Service. He previously held the Corporate Chair in Counterterrorism and Counterinsurgency and was director of the RAND Corporation's Washington, D.C. office. He is also Senior Fellow at the Combating Terrorism Center, U.S. Military Academy, West Point, New York and Senior Scholar at the Woodrow Wilson Center for International Studies, Washington, D.C.Bruce Hoffman is director of The RAND Corporation Washington, DC office and heads its terrorism research unit. Formerly director of the Centre for the Study of Political Violence in Scotland, he regularly advises governments and businesses throughout the world.
