"Wm. Theodore de Bary makes an elegant case for why material from the various Asian traditions needs to be part of any contemporary general education. Just as de Bary's earlier works on topics such as the liberal tradition in China and current debates on human rights and dignity have introduced a generation of North American scholars to the richness of the Chinese tradition in general and the Confucian tradition in particular, so too does Confucian Tradition and Global Education do the same for the topic of general education." — John Berthrong, Boston University
