"I’ve found this book to be greatly useful in developing a more thorough approach to Sebald (as well as a number of authors with whom Sebald shares several affinities), and I think this will be a book I’ll be returning to often" — Scott Esposito, Conversational Reading

"By telescoping a variety of thematic strands through the lens of modernity, the book offers a fresh reading of Sebald's prose writing that synthesizes hitherto isolated debates. This is an exciting and energetic book, which pushes the boundaries of Sebald criticism beyond the predictability of established themes and concerns." — Ann Fuchs, professor of German literature, University College, Dublin
