This volume describes the flora of the Arabian Peninsula and the Socotran archipelago. Examining 3500 to 4000 species of native flowering plants and ferns, as well as major crop and amenity plants of economic importance, the book travels to Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Oman, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Bahrain, and Kuwait. Volume 5, Part 1 is devoted to grasses and includes accounts of approximately 470 species arranged into 20 tribes, accompanied by notes on ecology and distribution. In addition, 65 illustrations and keys aid in identification throughout the text, followed by distribution maps of each species.
