About the Author

András Gero is professor of history and chairman of the Department of History at Budapest University. He is also professor of history at Central European University and director of the Institute of Habsburg History. His recent books in English include The Hungarian Parliament (1867-1918): A Mirage of Power, Emperor Francis Joseph, King of the Hungarians, Imagined History, and The Jewish Criterion in Hungary.
