Toby TalbotThe New Yorker Theater was well known for its diverse repertoire of films including avant-garde and cutting-edge movies from around the world as well as forgotten classics.

It was also legendary for the film notes and programs it distributed at the theater.  Novelists, critics, filmmakers, and artists such as Terry Southern, Jonas Mekas, and Jules Feiffer wrote critical assessments on a variety of movies.
